upscUPSC holds a competitive Examination named Geologists Examination for recruitment to the posts of –

Category I

(i) Geologist (Junior), Group A (ii) Assistant Geologist, Group B in the Geological Survey of India.

Category II

(i) Jr. Hydrogeologist, Group A (ii) Assistant Hydrogeologist, Group B in the Central Ground Water Board (CGWB) at selected centres in India.

UPSC Geologists Eligibility:

Educational Qualification

Master’s Degree in Geological Science or Applied Geology or Mineral Exploration or Engineering Geology or Marine Geology or Earth Science and Resource Management or Oceanography.

Age Limit

A candidate must have attained the age of 21 years and must not have attained the age of 32 years on the 1 August 2013 i.e. he/she must have been born not earlier than 2 August 1981 and not later than 1 August 1992 for Geologist, Group ‘A’ and Assistant Geologist Grade-I Group ‘B’ post.

A candidate must have attained the age of 21 years and must not have attained the age of 35 years on the 1 August 2013 i.e. he/she must have been born not earlier than 2 August 1978 and not later than 1 August 1992 for Jr. Hydrogeologist (Scientist B), Group ‘A’ post.

A candidate must have attained the age of 21 years and must not have attained the age of 30 years on the 1 August 2013 i.e. he/she must have been born not earlier than 2 August 1983 and not later than 1 August 1992 for Assistant Hydrogeologists, Group ‘B’ Post.

Age relaxation will be extended as per govt norms.

UPSC Geologists Selection Process:

The candidates will be selected on the basis of performance in Written Examination, Physical and Medical Standard Tests or Personality/Interview Tests.

Physical Standards

Candidates should be physically fit according to physical standards for admission to Geologists Examination 2013 as per the regulations specified by the commission.

How to Apply for Examination 2013:

This application form along with an Information Brochure is obtainable from the designated Head Post Offices/Post Offices throughout the country and may be purchased against cash payment of Rs.20/-

Candidates must use only the form supplied with the Information Brochure. Form should be purchased from the designated Post Offices only and not from any other agency.

Candidates must not use photocopy/ reproduction/ unauthorisedly printed copy of the Form. This will entail rejection. Each form can be used only once and for only one examination.
