Goa University has announced that its Department of Computer Science and Technology will be conducting its own entrance examination for admission into its three year MCA program.

EXAM PencilAdmission to the three-year, six semester, full time “Master of Computer Application” (MCA) is open to any Indian National, provided he or she fulfills the eligibility criteria.

Any graduate with a minimum of 55 per cent aggregate marks at the first degree examination will be eligible to apply. The criteria, however, is flexible by 5 per cent for reserved categories, including: SC/ST/OBC/PH/FF. Alternatively, anybody with a minimum CPI of 6.0 on the scale of 1 to 10 at the first degree examination (5.5 for OBC/ST/SC/PH/FF) are welcome to apply.

Candidates who have appeared in their final degree examination and are waiting for the results can also apply.

The total number of seats for the three year MCA program stands at 60. Admissions will be granted strictly on the basis of candidates’ performance in the entrance exam conducted by the University’s Department of Computer Science and Technology.

The entrance exam will be two hours in duration and it will comprise 90 multiple choice questions with four choices per question. For each correct answer, candidates will be awarded with three marks, whereas for each wrong answer, one mark will be subtracted.

Candidates are required to bring their own black ball pen and HB pencil into the exam hall. Mobile Phones, Calculators or any other similar material will not be allowed to be taken inside the examination hall.

According to the available information at our disposal, the entrance test will be scheduled some time in the first week of June. The application form along with the prospectus for the entrance test will be made available for purchase at Goa University and on its official website from April 22, 2014.
